ZedGi

ZedGi is an innovative TCP-to-HTTP proxy that enables modern edge runtimes and serverless functions to securely connect with traditional TCP databases like Redis, Postgres, and MySQL over standard HTTPS. It simplifies database access by eliminating the need for VPNs, complex firewall rules, or direct TCP exposure, making it ideal for developers and organizations leveraging serverless architectures. This SaaS targets developers, DevOps teams, and anyone building applications on platforms such as Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda, Deno, or Vercel Edge, who require secure, low-latency access to their existing Redis, Postgres, or MySQL databases. Key Features Client-Side Credential Encryption: Database passwords are AES-256 encrypted locally by the SDK and never stored or logged on ZedGi servers. Zero TCP Exposure: Connects databases over HTTPS, removing the need for VPNs or direct TCP connections from edge functions. Broad Runtime Compatibility: Works with Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda, Deno, Vercel Edge, Node.js, and any HTTP runtime. Use Your Own Database: Connects to your existing Redis, Postgres, or MySQL instances, preventing vendor lock-in. Sub-10ms Platform Overhead: Minimal added latency through efficient connection pooling and KV-based authentication. Caller IP Allowlist: Optionally restrict API requests to specific caller source IPs for enhanced security. Use Cases ZedGi is perfect for scenarios where edge computing and serverless functions need secure, efficient database access. For example, a developer building a real-time application on Cloudflare Workers can use ZedGi to interact with their existing Redis cache for rapid data operations without complex networking. Similarly, microservices deployed on AWS Lambda or Vercel Edge can securely query a centralized Postgres or MySQL database over HTTPS, simplifying deployment and maintaining strong security by keeping credentials encrypted and databases unexposed. Pricing Information ZedGi offers a freemium model, starting with a free tier that provides 1,000 requests per day across all protocols, including caller IP allowlist, with no credit card required. The paid tier offers unlimited daily requests at $10 per 1 million calls, deducted from a balance. Enterprise pricing is available for high-volume users exceeding 10 million requests monthly. User Experience and Support The platform is designed for ease of use: create a service by selecting a protocol, pasting a connection string, and optionally whitelisting an IP. An encrypted API key is generated with one click, used with a lightweight client library that mirrors local database interaction. "Docs" and "Contact" links suggest available resources for support and guidance. Technical Details ZedGi functions as a TCP-to-HTTP proxy, managing TCP connections to Redis, Postgres, and MySQL. It employs AES-256 encryption for client-side credential protection and uses short-lived JWTs (30 seconds) for secure transmission of re-encrypted credential blobs. Client libraries are compatible with popular drivers like IORedis, pg.Pool, and mysql2, ensuring a familiar development experience across various HTTP runtimes. Pros and Cons Pros: Enhanced security (client-side encryption, no stored passwords), simplified connectivity (no VPNs/firewalls), broad compatibility (edge runtimes, traditional databases), low latency, no vendor lock-in. Cons: Introduces an intermediary proxy layer, requires client library integration, reliance on ZedGi's infrastructure. Conclusion ZedGi provides a secure, efficient, and developer-friendly solution for connecting modern edge and serverless applications to traditional databases. By simplifying architecture and bolstering security through client-side encryption, it empowers developers to fully leverage edge computing with their existing data infrastructure. Explore ZedGi to streamline your serverless database connectivity.
